At The Cat Butler, we’re passionate about caring for cats and supporting the people who love them. Our franchisees go above and beyond every day to make a difference in their communities, and this month, we’re proud to celebrate Mark Dickinson, owner of The Cat Butler Tyldesley, who has become a Scan Angel.

By volunteering his time as a Scan Angel, Mark is helping to reunite lost cats with their owners and promoting the importance of microchipping, a small act that can make a life-changing difference for pet owners and their feline friends.

A Heartfelt Mission to Help Lost Cats

Mark’s decision to become a Scan Angel comes from his lifelong love of animals and a deep understanding of the special bond between cats and their owners.

“My decision to become a Scan Angel came from a deep love of animals and an understanding of the powerful bond they share with their owners,” says Mark. “I know how heartbreaking it is when a beloved cat goes missing, and I wanted to be part of the solution, helping families experience the joy and relief of being reunited with their pets. The happiness that follows a successful reunion reminds me how important community support is in times of distress.”

Promoting Microchipping and Responsible Pet Ownership

As part of his volunteer role, Mark is also committed to raising awareness about responsible pet ownership and the importance of microchipping cats.

“Being a Scan Angel allows me to contribute to a cause that encourages responsible pet ownership and awareness about microchipping,” he explains. “By engaging with the community and educating cat owners about the benefits of microchips, I hope to reduce the number of lost cats and promote a culture of care and responsibility.”

Supporting Cats and Communities Across the UK

The Scan Angel network, coordinated by Microchip Central, is made up of dedicated volunteers across the UK who use handheld microchip scanners to help lost pets find their way home. Unlike animal wardens or veterinary practices that may operate within set hours, Scan Angels offer flexible, community-based support, often available 365 days a year.

Mark’s compassion and commitment perfectly reflect The Cat Butler’s values of care, compassion, and community. We’re incredibly proud of him for taking on this meaningful role and making a real difference to cats and their families in Tyldesley and beyond.
