The Cat Butler Thame franchisee, Sam Heggie, hosted a festive fundraiser for chosen charity, The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary (OAS), at her local Christmas lights switch-on earlier this month, which saw visitors to the stall donating to this PAWSOME cause in exchange for face painting.
“It was a FURBULOUS event,” said Sam. “I’d like to say thank you to everyone who came along to find out more about the Charity’s work, and those who kindly made a donation towards Christmas-themed face painting, courtesy of All That Glitters. I spoke to several people at the event who had rescued a cat from OAS, and it was lovely to listen to their wonderful stories.”
OAS, in Stadhampton, Oxfordshire, provides a refuge for cats, dogs, and rabbits, who have been mistreated, abandoned, neglected, are unwanted, and for those whose owners are no longer able to care for their pets.
They admit and rehome over 500 animals every year. Since opening in 1967, the sanctuary has helped over 27,000 animals find their FUREVER home.
“I knew from the launch of my Cat Butler business back in July, that I wanted to support a local charity as it’s something that’s important to me having spent most of my working life with non-profits,” explained Sam. “It’s hugely important to try and give something back, and The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary is such a wonderful cause, doing amazing work year-on-year – with the added bonus that it’s literally down the road from me so I can go and visit!”
The Charity relies heavily on volunteers and is 100% funded by public donations which goes directly to animal care.
There are many ways to support their work. You can choose to donate, sponsor, or adopt an animal, or simply get involved in some local fundraising.
The Charity also has four shops based in Carterton, Didcot, Summertown, and Witney.

Sam will also be fundraising for Four Paws Cat Rescue, Oxfordshire, in 2024, as part of her ongoing commitment to support charitable causes in her local area.
