A routine Saturday evening took an unexpected turn for Muna Shah, owner of The Cat Butler Welwyn & Hatfield, when she received an urgent call regarding a tiny, frightened kitten found in a local garage.

The kitten was discovered by an employee of Muna’s son-in-law. Unsure of how to handle such a young and vulnerable animal, the finders reached out to Muna’s daughter, who knew exactly who to call. Drawing on her professional experience as a Cat Butler, Muna immediately took charge of the situation.

Expert Care in a Crisis

Muna first transported the kitten to a 24-hour veterinary surgery in Hillingdon. After a thorough examination, the vet confirmed that while the kitten was healthy, he was approximately only four to five weeks old, far too young to be without specialised care.

Understanding the delicate needs of a kitten this age, Muna stepped in as a surrogate mother. This involved around-the-clock dedication, including feeding every few hours and closely monitoring the kitten's health and development during those critical first days.

A Community Collaboration

Muna’s professional network played a vital role in this rescue. She collaborated closely with Nikki Rose from Rose Cat Rescue, who provided invaluable advice and essential kitten supplies to help manage the initial stages of the rescue.

The results of this expert intervention were almost immediate. Within 24 hours, the once-terrified kitten had begun eating well and had even successfully learned to use a litter tray.

A New Chapter as a Foster Mum

Thanks to Muna's expertise and the support of the local rescue community, the kitten has transformed from a scared stray into a playful, thriving baby. Reflecting on the experience of providing around-the-clock care and witnessing the kitten's recovery, Muna says: "So now I am officially a foster mum."

This story is a testament to the passion that drives The Cat Butler team; we are more than just a service, we are advocates for every feline, whether they have a home or are just waiting to find one. Whether you need elite care for your own fur babies or a trusted professional to watch over your home, The Cat Butler Welwyn & Hatfield brings this same level of dedication to every visit.
