Dusty and Marty were once stray cats, struggling to survive on their own. Concerned locals noticed their plight and raised the alarm about their health and safety. Marty, in particular, was extremely wary of human contact, making it difficult to find them a traditional home. After careful consideration, it was decided that they would be best suited to life on a smallholding, where they could retain their independence while still benefiting from shelter, regular meals, and a safe environment.
In preparation for their new life, our Rossendale franchisee, Phil Carter, played a key role in ensuring their wellbeing whilst volunteering for Cats Protection. As part of this effort, both Dusty and Marty needed their second round of vaccinations before being rehomed. This was no easy task, as neither cat was accustomed to being handled. To ensure their safety, as well as that of the team, special equipment was used, including gauntlet gloves and a crush cage. This careful approach allowed us to complete their vaccinations with minimal stress and ensured they were ready for their next chapter.
Now settled into their new home, Dusty and Marty are thriving in their smallholding environment. With ample space to roam and the freedom they need, they have adjusted remarkably well. In a heartwarming turn of events, they have even started to accept strokes from their adopters—something that once seemed impossible.
We are delighted to see Dusty and Marty flourishing in a home that suits their needs perfectly. A huge thank you to Phil Carter and everyone involved in their rescue and rehoming. We wish them a happy and fulfilling life in their new surroundings!
