As the newest member of The Cat Butler team, I was inspired by my fellow Cat Butlers taking part in Cat's Protection's Miles For Moggies Challenge - raising much-needed funds for cats and kittens in need.
Cats Protection is the UK's largest feline welfare charity. They help around 200,000 cats and kittens every year through their network of over 250 volunteer run branches and 34 adoption centres.
Cats Protection's Miles for Moggies is a virtual running challenge. It is open to everyone to take part, whether you are a keen runner or challenging yourself to your first 5k. You can complete the challenge in your own way, so whether you make it a marathon or your daily dawdle, your miles will help cats in need get back on their paws.
As a keen hiker and being fortunate to live in an area with some spectacular views and hill walking on our doorstep, it was the perfect opportunity to combine two of my passions, hiking and cats, with the added bonus of raising vital funds to help contribute towards the fantastic work that Cats Protection does.
We opted to participate on a crisp and frosty Saturday. The hike was completed in 2 hours 36 minutes and covered 6.88 miles; climbing elevations of 1167ft, which afforded us some fantastic views across the valley with Manchester in the distance.
