Introduction

Whether you have just adopted a new kitty, are rehoming a new feline friend, or you're heading on holiday and looking to reduce stress for your cat and keep them in the familiarities of their own home (instead of using the services of a cattery), then you may well be looking for a local cat sitter.

If this is your first time using a cat sitting service, then read on as we explain the ins, the outs and the steps of the process, so you feel comfortable with booking your Cat Butler!

To begin, start by thinking about what's best for your cat. Just like people, cats have different personalities and temperaments. Is your cat nervous around other animals or fun-loving and sociable? Choosing care that's right for your cat will give you peace of mind while you're away.

Who needs a Cat sitter?

A cat sitter is a handy service for just about any scenario where you're going to be away from home. Typical scenarios include urgent family events, business trips, all-important holidays, and Christmas breaks.

At The Cat Butler, we also offer our services to the older cat or kitten for care throughout the day whilst you're on a day out or at work - so you're confident your kitty is getting all of the care and attention he or she needs.

Even if you have a dog, you can still place them with family/friends or in a kennel where they'll be regularly exercised as needed, but you still have the opportunity to leave your cat at home with the support of an expert Cat Butler.

Why choose the Cat Butler over another sitting service (or a cattery)?

Now you know how we at The Cat Butler set ourselves apart from other services, read about our three simple steps to booking your expert pet sitter:

Step 1 - Finding a Cat Butler in Your Area

Across The Cat Butler site, you can learn more about our cat sitting services, home security options and what we offer as expert cat sitters. You can also read about how we started and the passion that drives us to deliver expert cat care to all our clients, human and feline.

Importantly, you'll want to know whether The Cat Butler is available in your area. Simply head to our Location Search and enter your postcode.

If we're available in your area, you'll be taken directly to your local Cat Butler.

If we don't yet cover your area, don't fret! We're introducing new locations all the time, and you can leave your contact details and get notified when we introduce our premier cat sitting services near you.

Alternatively, you may want to look at all the locations we cover on our Locations page.

Some of the locations we cover include:

It couldn't be easier to get in touch, you can call your local Cat Butler directly or fill in our handy short enquiry form on your area's location page, and your Cat Butler will get back in touch with you.

Step 2 - Your Initial Meeting

When you get in touch with us, we find out about your cat - their background, personality and quirky ways, what they like and don't like, and the care that your cat needs.

We then match them with the purr-fect Cat Butler, who will arrange a time to meet you and make friends with your feline friend.

This meeting gives you the opportunity to discuss the care required for your cat and show your cat sitter where the cat supplies are kept and the cat care routine.

You can also show us how to use any house alarms and let us know anything else you need doing, such as putting the bins out for collection.

Step 3 - Preparation for your Cat Butler

There are a few things you will need to do to ensure your Cat Butler has everything they need to care for your cat for the duration of your absence.

We will need a copy of your house keys which we will keep securely locked away and separate from your details. Let neighbours know you have a cat sitter arranged for whilst you are away, so they are not alarmed if they notice someone letting themselves into your home!

If your cat requires any medications, please leave them with the veterinary instructions. Place cleaning supplies in easily accessible places for your cat butler in case of any mess or accidents. Make sure your cat is wearing its collar and ID tag before you leave.

Finally, don't forget to check your access to the pet portal before you go away to ensure full access and if your cat uses a flap, please upload their photo!

What to expect from your Cat Butler whilst you are away

Once your cat has approved of your new Cat Butler, and your booking is confirmed, you will receive updates via WhatsApp, text or emails letting you know how kitty is getting on.

You will receive videos and pictures, or they can be uploaded to the Facebook page if you like! Let your cat butler know if your return is delayed, and we can continue caring for your cat until your return.
