At The Cat Butler, we’re lucky to meet some truly special cats and Beca and Bini are a beautiful example of how patience, kindness and consistency can help even the shyest cats flourish.

Mother-and-daughter duo Beca and Bini were rescued by Cats Protection Watford after being found living as part of a colony in a Watford churchyard. Because of their close bond, they could only be rehomed together, and in 2019 they found their forever home with a loving family in Radlett.

Bini, once shy, now confidently catching treats

Like many former colony cats, both Beca and Bini were extremely timid at first. Bini would retreat out of sight when unfamiliar people were around, while Beca kept her distance, quietly observing from afar.

When their family travels, The Cat Butler Radlett team now cares for both cats, using calm routines, play and treats to build trust at each cat’s own pace. Over time, that patience has paid off in the most heart-warming way.

Today, Beca happily welcomes visits with head and chin rubs, while Bini has become known for her adorable habit of standing on her hind legs to catch treats; a world away from the shy cat who once hid from view. Both now greet their Cat Butler visits with enthusiasm, affection and plenty of playtime.

Radlett franchise owner Jane explains:

“Bini used to hide when we would visit, but now I have the closest bond with her and she loves playtime and catching treats. With cats like Beca and Bini, trust comes from time, patience and always respecting their space.”

Bini is growing in confidence over time

Beca and Bini’s journey is a gentle reminder that every cat is an individual. With understanding, consistency and compassionate care, even the most nervous cats can learn to feel safe, confident and truly at home.

If you’re the owner of a shy or rescue cat, our calm, in-home cat sitting can help them feel safe and settled in their own space. Find out more about our cat sitting service in Radlett, Watford and the surrounding areas here.
