We love celebrating the incredible work our franchisees do every day. Today, we’re delighted to share this extraordinary real-life story from The Cat Butler Radlett, written by its owner, Jane Hotz.

The Story (by Jane Hotz)

At The Cat Butler Radlett, we care deeply about every feline we meet - whether they’re a client’s cherished companion or a new face in need of help. On Saturday, 23rd August 2025, during a regular visit to a client’s home, our team received an unexpected surprise: a friendly but very thin cat appeared in the garden.

Neither our client nor the neighbours recognised her, and it was clear she was hungry, so we offered her some food. Despite her frail condition, she was affectionate and trusting - clearly craving both care and comfort.

Princess on the day she was found, seeking food and comfort

We decided that if she was still there the next morning, we would take her to Medivet Watford to check for a microchip. Sure enough, she was waiting for us on Sunday, so our Cat Butler brought a carrier, and off we went to the vet.

Upon scanning, we discovered she was microchipped, around 13 years old, and her name was Princess. Sadly, she was in poor health — suffering from malnutrition and skin problems - so the vet decided to keep her in for treatment and monitoring.

The contact number registered to her microchip initially went unanswered, and to our surprise, the address on file was two and a half hours away. Later that day, the registered owners returned the call - they had been away on holiday. To everyone’s astonishment, they revealed that Princess had been missing for five years.

The owners returned home the following day, and by Tuesday, Medivet had the joy of reuniting them with their beloved Princess. It was an emotional moment - one of those rare occasions that remind us just how strong the bond between people and their pets truly is.

A Moving Reminder for All Pet Owners

At The Cat Butler Radlett, we often say that no two days are ever the same - and stories like Princess’s prove it. What began as a simple act of kindness turned into something truly extraordinary.

Princess’s journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of microchipping and keeping contact details up to date. It also shows that even after years apart, hope is never lost. We’re so grateful to have played a small part in bringing Princess home where she belongs.
