Welcoming into your home a new kitten can be a wonderful and joyous experience. Kittens bring us so much love, laughter and mischievous fun. However, with this also comes new responsibilities as they require special care and attention and shouldn't be left unsupervised for long periods.
Here at The Cat Butler we don’t offer holiday bookings for kittens under the age of 6 months – Our article Why We Don't Offer Bookings For Cats Under 6 Months explains why this is the case.
However, what we can offer is Kitten Day Care whilst you are either in the office for the day, away from the home for more than a couple of hours or out at a function. Since the return to working in the office it is important to note that leaving a very young kitten from 8 weeks up to 6 months for a whole day or longer than a couple of hours not checked on is not advisable and this is where we come in.
During the days you are not home we will go in and visit your kitten or kittens tailoring the visits to what you need depending on how long you are out of the home. It could be a morning visit only or if you are away for the whole day, we would do mid-morning visit and mid-afternoon visits.
Kittens need regular feeding and lots of playtime and stimulation. It is also important that their well-being is checked regularly whilst you are out of the home.
I have had the recent pleasure of looking after my gorgeous client Tabatha. Tabatha was 10 weeks old when I started my Kitten Day Care visits to help her mummy out when she needed to go to work. My visits are mid-morning and mid-afternoon or sometimes at midday depending on her mummy’s work hours.
During my visits, I would always ensure that she had a clean litter tray, fresh water and enough food as kittens up to 4 months need feeding every 6 hours. Kittens need a lot of playtime and stimulation so once all the domestics are taken care of the rest of the time is for playtime and cuddles. Tabatha does not stop for one second!!
Tabatha’s mummy also wanted to ensure that Tabatha had the right socialisation and proper training at an early age, along with positive reinforcement, as these are the most effective ways to teach your cats when biting and scratching is not okay so they can grow up into great social animals. I was asked to continue this development of Tabatha during my visits.
Tabatha is now nearly 16 weeks and I have seen her grow and develop as a kitten into a loveable, playful and sometimes crazy kitten who makes me laugh on every visit and gives me so much enjoyment.
