At The Cat Butler, we’re incredibly proud of Jen Jones, our Weybridge franchisee, who recently completed Cats Protection’s Big Summer Roam to raise funds for Woking Cats Protection. Walking 100 miles throughout August, Jen’s dedication helped raise vital funds to support local cats in need, showing once again how much our team cares for the wellbeing of all cats, both in our care and beyond.

Jen said:

"As a cat lover and a huge supporter of the incredible work done by cat rescue centres, it’s been really worrying to see so many shelters overwhelmed lately. The cost of living crisis has made it harder for people to care for their cats, there’s been a rise in people trying to make money from selling kittens, and fewer people are adopting – it’s all created a bit of a perfect storm for most rescue centres."

"When I saw Cats Protection’s Big Summer Roam, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to raise some funds for such an important cause. Cats Protection does amazing work across the UK, and I was able to choose my local branch in Woking to receive any donations I raised."

"The Big Summer Roam happens in August, and you can choose your own walking goal and fundraising target. I decided on 100 miles for the month. I’ve had a fitness watch for years, and I typically walk around 80 miles a month, so I thought 100 miles would be a good challenge."

"Some days were harder than others to fit the roam in. I burn easily in the sun, so on the really hot days, I couldn’t walk very far. I tried to go out early when I could, but sometimes there were too many kitties to serve and I just couldn’t squeeze it in. Other days I walked more than my target to make up for it."

"As I write this, I’m thrilled to say I’ve passed my goal of raising £200, with £210 raised plus Gift Aid of £46.25. I hope this helps Woking Cats Protection to continue their invaluable work in improving the lives of local cats."

"If you’re thinking of adopting, I really encourage you to reach out to your local rescue centre instead of buying from a private seller. These rescues need responsible cat owners to give their kitties the loving homes they deserve, so they can continue helping other cats in need."

Donations and adoptions help shelters continue their life-saving work for cats in need.
