Introduction

After 15 years working in education, Suzanne Maddison decided it was time for a new chapter. With a lifelong love of cats and a desire for a more balanced and rewarding role, she has now launched The Cat Butler Greenwich, caring for cats in Blackheath, Charlton, Woolwich, Plumstead and surrounding areas in South East London.

Suzanne is now bringing her experience and passion to local cat owners, helping their cats stay happy and relaxed in the comfort of their own homes while they are away.

From Education to Cat Sitting Business Owner

Before joining The Cat Butler, Suzanne worked as a Head of Science, teaching biology, chemistry and mainly physics in a busy secondary school environment.

Her role involved leading a large department, often working long hours in a fast-paced and high-pressure setting.

Earlier in her career, Suzanne also worked in the City, managing tax structures for businesses investing in the UK. After many years in demanding roles, she reached a point where she wanted a new challenge, something more balanced, people-focused and genuinely enjoyable.

A Lifelong Love of Cats

Cats have always played an important role in Suzanne’s life.

“I love everything about cats, their attitude, their desire for cuddles or independence, all on their terms,” she says.

At home, Suzanne shares her life with her cats, each with their own unique personality.

Tippy, her 11 year old British Shorthair, is a rescue cat who enjoys squeezing into small spaces and relaxing in cardboard boxes. Alongside her is Gary, a curious young ragdoll who brings plenty of energy and entertainment to the household.

Living with cats of different ages and temperaments has given Suzanne a strong understanding of how important routine, comfort and familiarity are to their wellbeing.

Bringing The Cat Butler to Greenwich

When Suzanne discovered The Cat Butler, she was immediately drawn to its professional approach and strong focus on cat welfare.

With her background in safeguarding, organisation and leadership, she recognised the importance of delivering a reliable, high-quality service that cat owners can trust.

With the launch of The Cat Butler Greenwich, Suzanne now offers home cat sitting visits designed to keep cats relaxed and happy in their own environment while their owners are away.

Visits include feeding, playtime, companionship and attentive care, tailored to each cat’s individual needs.

Suzanne understands how important it is for cats to remain in familiar surroundings and maintain their usual routines.

“Most cats enjoy human company and interaction, or simply like knowing someone is there. Sticking to their home routine helps them feel comfortable and stress-free,” she explains.
