The Cat Butler Oxford - An Update

A great start

Former customer service and account manager Mark Mentiply officially opened his business, The Cat Butler Oxford, in June 2022 but didn’t get going properly until July 2022. Having now had two full working months (July and August), Mark is building up a great list of clients and is already 2/3rds of the way to making back his franchise fee. He is considering taking on a member of staff to cover the densely populated (and notoriously hard to park in) area of Oxford Town centre.

Getting the business name out there

Being the trooper that he is, Mark is working hard to get his business name out there, even becoming a regular caller on the Ian Lee’s ‘Rude Awakening’ breakfast show on Jack FM in Oxford. He is so well known that he recently picked up a voicemail from the crew, who had rung him on air, miaowing down the phone to him! They’ve even interviewed him, asking him all about his job as a Cat Butler. With approximately 55,500 people listening to the station each week, Mark is doing a fantastic job of his own PR! Way to go Mark!

Growing the business

Excitingly, Mark has trained up his partner Nicola to become a Cat Butler too. They now do all new customer visits together, so they are both familiar with the cat and his/her ways before the owner goes away. Mark is delighted with the way things are going. Christmas is going to be his next busy period, and he is using this time to focus on marketing and try to build up more clients around existing ones to cut down on travelling time.

A word from Mark

I’m really happy with how things are going. I’m putting in a lot of time marketing the business, and it’s paying off.  Since the 1st of July, there have only been two days when I haven’t visited a cat at all – which is pretty amazing for a new business. I’m having great fun and loving visiting so many great cats every day. It’s been awesome.
